What Is a 98% GPA on a 4.0 Scale?
A 98% is usually an A+. On most 4.0 scales, that converts to a 4.0 GPA. A few schools award 4.3 for A+, but most cap A+ at 4.0.
Why 98% often caps at 4.0
The standard unweighted GPA scale has a maximum of 4.0. Because of that, an A and A+ may both count as 4.0 even though 98% is higher than 93%.
Weighted GPAs are different. If the course is AP, IB, or honors, a 98% may be worth more than 4.0 on a weighted scale.
Check A+ policy
If your transcript uses A+ and your school awards 4.3, then 98% may convert to 4.3. If not, it is simply a perfect 4.0 for that course.
