How the UF GPA Calculator Works
The University of Florida GPA is a credit-weighted average. Each UF letter grade has a grade-point value, that value is multiplied by the course credits, and the total grade points are divided by the total GPA-eligible credits.
UF GPA = Σ ( UF grade points × credits ) ÷ Σ ( credits )
This page uses the current UF grade values published in the University of Florida undergraduate catalog for credit earned effective Summer A 2009 and later: A is 4.0, A- is 3.67, B+ is 3.33, B is 3.0, B- is 2.67, C+ is 2.33, C is 2.0, C- is 1.67, D+ is 1.33, D is 1.0, D- is 0.67, and E is 0. WF, I, and NG are also zero grade points when counted in GPA.
UF S/U grades are different: S/U grades do not carry grade point values and are not computed in the UF GPA, so they are intentionally excluded from the calculator. Repeated UF coursework is counted in the UF GPA as many times as grades are recorded, although credits are awarded only once.
Worked UF example
- MAC 2311 - grade A- (3.67), 4 credits = 14.68 grade points
- ENC 1102 - grade B+ (3.33), 3 credits = 9.99 grade points
- CHM 2045 - grade B (3.0), 4 credits = 12.00 grade points
Total grade points = 36.67. Total credits = 11. UF GPA = 36.67 ÷ 11 = 3.33.

Frequently Asked Questions
How does UF calculate GPA?
The University of Florida calculates GPA as total grade points divided by total GPA-eligible credits. Each letter grade has a grade-point value, and that value is multiplied by the course credits. For example, an A in a 3-credit class gives 12.0 grade points, while a B+ in a 4-credit class gives 13.32 grade points. Add all grade points, divide by all attempted credits that carry grade points, and you get the UF GPA.
What grading scale does the University of Florida use?
For UF credit earned effective Summer A 2009 and later, the official UF scale uses A = 4.0, A- = 3.67, B+ = 3.33, B = 3.0, B- = 2.67, C+ = 2.33, C = 2.0, C- = 1.67, D+ = 1.33, D = 1.0, D- = 0.67, and E = 0. WF, I, and NG are also zero grade points when counted in GPA. This calculator uses that current UF scale.
Does UF use A+ grades?
UF's current undergraduate catalog grade point table does not list A+ as a passing grade value. The top listed grade value is A = 4.0. That means this UF GPA calculator starts at A rather than A+. If a course uses percentage scores internally, the official GPA calculation still depends on the final letter grade submitted to the registrar.
Do S/U grades count in UF GPA?
No. UF states that grades earned under the S/U option do not carry grade point values and are not computed in the University of Florida GPA. Satisfactory grades count as credits earned toward the degree when allowed, but they do not change the GPA. Because S/U is excluded from GPA, this calculator focuses on letter grades that carry grade points.
Do repeated courses count in UF GPA?
UF states that repeated University of Florida coursework is counted in the computation of the UF GPA as many times as grades for that course are recorded, although credit is awarded only once. That means repeating a course does not automatically erase the first attempt from the GPA. For an estimate, enter each graded UF attempt that appears in the GPA calculation.
Is this calculator the same as ONE.UF?
No. This is a planning calculator, not an official transcript system. It uses UF's published grade-point values and the standard GPA formula so you can estimate a semester GPA or model a what-if schedule. Your official GPA is the one posted by the University of Florida in ONE.UF or on your UF transcript.
