How the UOS GPA Calculator Works
The University of Sargodha runs on a semester system and reports results as a GPA on the 4.0 scale. Your GPA for a semester is a credit-weighted average: courses that carry more credit hours influence the result more than lighter ones.
The calculation has three steps. Each course grade is converted to a grade point using the UOS scale (an A is 4.0, a B is 3.0, and so on). That grade point is multiplied by the course's credit hours to give quality points. Finally, all quality points are added together and divided by the total credit hours you attempted that semester.
GPA = Σ ( grade point × credit hours ) ÷ Σ ( credit hours )
Your CGPA extends the same idea across every semester of your degree, and it is the figure used for your final result and academic standing. Most four-year BS programmes at UOS require a minimum CGPA of 2.50 to graduate, with 50% (a D) the minimum passing mark in any single course.
Worked example
- English — grade A (4.0), 3 credit hours → 12.0 quality points
- Maths — grade B+ (3.3), 4 credit hours → 13.2 quality points
- Islamic Studies — grade B (3.0), 2 credit hours → 6.0 quality points
Total = 31.2 quality points over 9 credit hours → GPA = 3.47.

Frequently Asked Questions
How is GPA calculated at the University of Sargodha?
The University of Sargodha follows a semester system on a 4.0 scale. Each course grade is converted to a grade point, multiplied by the course's credit hours to give quality points, and the total quality points are divided by the total credit hours attempted in the semester. For example, an A (4.0) in a 3-credit course and a B (3.0) in a 3-credit course give (12 + 9) = 21 quality points over 6 credit hours, for a GPA of 3.50. This calculator performs the same credit-weighted calculation automatically as you enter your courses.
What is the difference between GPA and CGPA at UOS?
At UOS, GPA (sometimes called SGPA) measures your performance in a single semester, while CGPA is the cumulative grade point average across every semester you have completed. CGPA is found by adding the quality points from all courses in all semesters and dividing by the total credit hours attempted in the whole programme. Your CGPA is the figure used for your final degree result and for academic standing. Use this page for one semester's GPA, then combine multiple semesters with our cumulative GPA tool to track your CGPA.
What is the minimum passing GPA at University of Sargodha?
At UOS the minimum passing marks in a course are usually 50%, which corresponds to a D (grade point 1.0). To be awarded a degree, programmes set a minimum CGPA: commonly 2.50 for a four-year BS or BBA, 2.00 for a two-year associate degree, 2.50 for MS/MPhil, and 3.00 for PhD. Falling below the required CGPA can place a student on probation. Always confirm the exact thresholds in your department's regulations, since requirements can differ slightly by programme and admission year.
Does UOS award an A+ grade?
On the standard UOS letter scale, the highest grade is an A, awarded for 85% and above and worth 4.00 grade points — the maximum on a 4.0 system. Some grade reports show an A+ label, but it still carries 4.00 points, so it does not raise your GPA above 4.0. Because UOS, like many Pakistani universities, may apply relative or per-mark grading in some courses, the exact grade point for a given percentage can vary slightly. For a precise figure, use the grade points printed on your official transcript.
How can I improve my UOS CGPA?
Because CGPA is credit-weighted, focus on high-credit courses and on subjects where you are close to the next grade boundary. Improving a 3-credit course from a C to a B lifts your CGPA more than the same jump in a 1-credit course. Repeating a course to replace a weak grade, where your department's rules allow, can also help. Plan ahead by entering your current CGPA and total credit hours into our cumulative GPA calculator, then add a projected semester to see the impact before results are announced.
Why might the GPA here differ slightly from my UOS transcript?
This calculator uses the standard UOS letter-to-grade-point bands. UOS sometimes uses relative grading or assigns grade points on a per-mark basis within a band, so the exact grade point for a particular percentage can differ a little from a fixed letter value. Rounding rules for the final figure can also vary. Treat the result here as an accurate estimate for planning, and rely on your official transcript or the university portal for the figures that appear on your degree.
