Academic Standing & Probation at HCT

How to Calculate Your HCT GPA (Step by Step)

In short: your HCT GPA is the credit-weighted average of your grade points on the 4.0 scale. The full method, the same one the calculator above uses:

  1. Convert each grade to its grade points — A = 4.0, A− = 3.7, B+ = 3.3, B = 3.0, B− = 2.7, C+ = 2.3, C = 2.0, C− = 1.7, D+ = 1.3, D = 1.0, F = 0.
  2. Multiply by the course's credit hours (a B+ in a 4-credit course is 3.3 × 4 = 13.2 grade points).
  3. Add the grade points from every graded course (skip W and P marks).

  5. For your cumulative GPA (CGPA), include every graded course from every semester — total all grade points and divide by all credit hours.

Common HCT GPA Mistakes (and How to Avoid Them)

  • Looking for an A+. HCT has no A+ — a straight A is the maximum 4.0. A calculator with an A+ = 4.0 / A = 3.7 split (or a US-style A+ at 4.3) will give the wrong HCT GPA.
